David's Inspiration
"The Bob Dylan piece is done with the same technique as Clint Eastwood. Everything in the image is sculpted except the clouds. The art was commissioned by Village Voice for their annual "Pazz and Jopp'' critics poll, in which "Love and Theft'' was picked as the best album for 2001. There are references from Dylan's songs in the image, particularly "High Water'' and "Summer Days.'' (Please see Bob Dylan fact sheet for more on this artwork.)"
