David's Inspiration
I was thinking about this sculpture when I was working on "The Godfather'' painting. Because of the exposure and light in the movie - it was all very dark and the cinematographer lit Marlon Brando straight up, you never got to see his eyes - I thought it would be great to do a caricature that could come to life. I wanted to make sure his eyes were so far back that you would have to peer into the sculpture to see them. Sculptures are a challenge, you never know what kind of light they are going to be in, you can't light them like you can a painting. I paint all of "The Don'' sculptures by hand and it takes almost a whole day to finish one. I am usually critical of my art, but I love how this turned out. This is the beginning of a lot of cool cast resin Sculpture Uniques!
