David's Inspiration:
Since our gallery is in Sarasota, I wanted to do something of Marilyn Monroe that said Sarasota, maybe something with a beach scene. Rummaging through books of pictures of her, I found some images that I thought fit. It looks like she's on a pier in the pictures and I decided to have her sitting on a pier with the water behind her. I've been working a lot in sepia tones lately and I like the way it adds to the nostalgia of this piece. The original is a pencil and gouache drawing. We did 1962 in the limited edition because that is the year she died. I'm trying to do the icons most requested by our fans and Marilyn Monroe was on the top of the list.

Gouache and Pencil on Paper. 18x20.  Framed.
